What does an introductory rate mean?

An introductory rate, also known as a “honeymoon rate,” is a promotional interest rate offered by lenders to attract new customers. This rate is typically lower than the standard rate and applies for a limited time, often around 12 months. After this period, the interest rate generally increases and reverts to the lender’s standard variable rate.
